Invisible Cities unveils walking map of Govan
Invisible Cities has produced a brand new map walking map of Govan and its many landmarks.
The social enterprise organisation runs a project supported by GRID, Meet Me in Govan, that invites people on walking tours of the town.
The walking map is a collaborative project between Invisible Cities and Glasgow Science Centre, with generous support from Farrans Construction.
Vibrant
It was created by walking group participants, who shared their local knowledge, favourite places, and personal stories from Govan, and was brought to life through two creative workshops led by the community team at Glasgow Science Centre’s community team, and transformed into a digital version by graphic designer Barry the Cat.

Invisible Cities says the result “is a vibrant, community-led resource that showcases Govan through the eyes of the people who live and walk here”.
A spokesperson said: “The walking map is a celebration of the area’s rich history, culture, landmarks, and spirit and a great way to explore the neighbourhood either on your own or by joining one of our weekly walks.
“We recently promoted the map at the latest Glasgow Science Centre community event, and the feedback was incredible.
“We’re so proud of this collaboration and grateful to Glasgow Science Centre and Farrans Construction for making it possible.”

Iinvisible Cities
Invisible Cities is a social enterprise transforming tourism by empowering people who have experienced homelessness to become storytellers and walking tour guides in their own cities.
Through guided experiences, the organisations says it "challenge stereotypes, foster deeper connections with our cities, and create meaningful opportunities for those who need them most".
The organisation is one of the local groups working with communities within GRID that received support from the Civic Grant Fund that was launched by the University of Glasgow, last year.
If you would like to experience the area with the guides at Invisible Cities, Meet Me in Govan walks take place every Thursday at 10:30 AM from the Pearce Institute reception (840–860 Govan Road, G51 3UU). Everyone is welcome!
