University supports Sunny Govan Christmas toy appeal
The festive season is a time of joy and togetherness, but for many families in our community, it can also bring worry and hardship.
That is why, following the wonderful success of last year’s appeal – which saw over 400 gifts donated – the College of Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences at the University of Glasgow is once again supporting the Sunny Govan Festive Toy Appeal, in partnership with GRID and the Living Laboratory.
The appeal has a simple mission: to ensure every child in our community wakes up to the excitement of unwrapping a gift and experiences the happiness that the festive season should bring.
In Govan, around 44% of children live in poverty, with many families facing financial challenges that make this time of year especially difficult. The Festive Toy Appeal aims to help ease that pressure and bring a little extra joy to local children and their families.
All toy donations are warmly welcome and will help spread smiles and create special memories for children across our community.
Please note that all toys must be new. Donations will be accepted until Wednesday 17 December 2025, with collection points located at:
· College Office, Wolfson Medical School Building
· Reception Area - Mary Stewart Building (Garscube)
· Reception Area - Imaging Centre of Excellence (ICE), QEUH Gift ideas and further details about the appeal can be found on the Toy Appeal webpage.
Last year’s generosity made a real difference, and with everyone’s support, we hope to bring even more smiles to local children this Christmas.
