Education & skills
Skills and learning are fundamental interests for all partners engaged with GRID, and to that end we are fully aligned with the aims and strategy of Glasgow City Region.
We will support moves to develop Innovation Skills to tackle the skills needs of existing and emerging clusters, and alongside our regional partners we will work with further and higher education institutions to ensure there is the capacity to meet the skills and training needs now and in the future, encompassing technical and academic skillsets.
Regional partners say that global competition for talent is a defining feature of growth in the innovation system, and that our skill base must better match the skills that will be in demand in our emerging sectors.
The University has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Glasgow Clyde College to work closer on ambitious projects to boost productivity, growth and inclusion across the region, with skills development being at the forefront of this partnership.
Ensuring that the benefits of this joint-working are felt across the city’s communities is a shared ambition for the University and Glasgow Clyde College. Meanwhile, GRID will work with regional partners to develop and implement a regional attraction strategy with dedicated support to help address immediate skill gaps.
