Civic Grant Fund Projects 2025-26
Glasgow Caring City (The Big STEAM Project)
The Big STEAM Project, led by Glasgow Caring City’s Skills Barn Team, is empowering young people from under-represented groups in Govan through hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) activities.
Young people will benefit from this initiative that offers twice-weekly sessions and three large community events. The project fosters sustainable skills, confidence, and stronger connections.
GRID Civic Fund has awarded this project £3,500.
Partick Community Growing Projects (PCGP)
Partick Community Growing Projects (PCGP) is enhancing the community by creating a sustainable space for growing fresh produce and sharing skills.
Through gardening, cooking and crafting workshops, PCGP fosters a sense of togetherness while promoting healthy living and environmental sustainability.
GRID Civic Fund has awarded this project £2,500.
Momentum Films Limited
Momentum Films Limited is shining a spotlight on the stories of Scotland’s South-Asian communities through TV dramas, documentaries, and feature films.
The project empowers participants to learn about the media industry and how to fund and develop their own creative projects.

Halo Arts (Typically Diverse Project)
Halo Arts’ 'Typically Diverse' project empowers young people and adults in Govan who are on the autism spectrum or have other neurodivergent conditions to explore their creativity through drama, music, and movement workshops.
The project fosters self-expression, communication and confidence while providing training for local residents to support individuals.
GRID Civic Fund has awarded this project £3,000.
Street Care Volunteers
Street Care Volunteers is addressing homelessness in Glasgow through two key initiatives:

T-Walk: Providing essentials like clothing and hygiene products directly to those in need

T-Drop: Redistributing surplus food from supermarkets to local homeless shelters
This project is reducing waste, supporting local shelters and providing vital services to Glasgow’s most vulnerable.

Dig In Foods Ltd
Dig In Foods Ltd is expanding its Eating Well with Dig In initiative, providing cooking workshops, sustainable frozen meals, and catering services to the local community.
The project promotes healthy and affordable eating while fostering community connection.
GRID Civic Fund has awarded this project £4,000.
The Glasgow Barons (Musicians in Exile)
The Glasgow Barons’ Musicians in Exile programme provides refugees and asylum seekers the opportunity to create music, connect with others, and share their stories.
The programme includes rehearsal space, instruments, and collaboration and will culminate in a live World Music Night performance in Govan.
GRID Civic Fund has awarded this project £3,000.
SISU
SISU is empowering young women in Glasgow through financial literacy education and wellbeing support. An eight-week programme will offer workshops on budgeting, saving and managing debt, alongside mindfulness and confidence-building activities.
Participants also gain access to Female Invest resources and connect with inspiring women leaders in finance.

12 Guitars
12 Guitars is creating opportunities for people to explore their passion for music by providing free lessons, refurbished instruments, and access to a recording studio.
With GRID’s support, the programme will grow its guitar inventory, expand workshops and give more people the chance to develop their musical talents and connect with their community.

Weekday Wow Factor
Weekday Wow Factor is helping older adults and people with dementia stay connected through their Daytime Discos and Minibus Adventures.
These activities create opportunities for social connection, mobility, and improved mental wellbeing.

Sunny Govan Community Radio
Sunny Govan Community Radio’s Voices of the Riverside: Young Creators Programme is empowering young people (14–25) in Govan by teaching them how to create podcasts, radio broadcasts, and digital stories.
The project gives young people a platform to share their stories and gain hands-on media experience.

Govan High School Club
The Govan High School Club is supporting families in the G51 area who are facing financial hardship, including asylum seekers and new Scots.
The club offers a breakfast club, food and uniform banks and a Life Skills cooking programme that celebrates cultural diversity.
The club is also creating a decompression space for students with Autism and sensory needs, helping them regulate their emotions and return to learning.

Maslow’s Community (Reimagining the River)
Maslow’s Community is celebrating diversity and creativity through Reimagining the River, a 16-week project that transforms reflections on identity, belonging and home into public artworks.
Participants, including refugees and newcomers to Glasgow, will create sculptures, signs and other installations inspired by their experiences. The project will culminate in a showcase of their work along the River Clyde.

Letterspace CIC
Letterspace CIC is marking Glasgow’s 850th anniversary by showcasing the city’s rich history through stories, poems, images and recipes contributed by residents.
The project includes letterpress workshops for schools, community groups and the public, encouraging people to creatively express their connection to Glasgow.
The final works will be exhibited alongside a commemorative publication.

Govan Appliance Project (GAP)
The Govan Appliance Project (GAP) is equipping local residents with practical skills through white goods repair workshops.
These accessible two-hour workshops, delivered in partnership with Linthouse Housing Association, empower participants to learn.

Make Do and Grow CIC
Make Do and Grow CIC is helping young people in Govan develop creative skills and gain confidence through its Creative Leaders programme.
Participants earn Arts Award qualifications and gain hands-on experience working with community partners like SWG3, preparing them for careers in the creative industries.

Music Broth
From November 2025 to January 2026, Music Broth will host an eight-week Winter Warmer Programme at its new Elliot Street Hub in Skypark, Glasgow.
Weekly sessions will feature Open Library jam sessions, instrument repair and upcycling workshops and community support spaces.
Designed to combat winter isolation and financial hardship, the alcohol- and drug-free hub will provide a safe, inclusive space for creativity and connection.
GRID is excited to award this project with £850.
98th Glasgow Scouts
The 98th Glasgow Scouts will showcase their group at the Elder Park Community Festival on 16 August 2026, offering free taster sessions in fire-starting, cooking, knot-tying and survival skills for all ages.
They will buy extra equipment to safely involve more people and improve future activities, easing costs for volunteers and enhancing experiences for current Scouts.

SP Square / City of Poets
SP SQUARE CIC is piloting MINI PIES, a series of six workshops for children (6–12) and their parents at Make Do and Grow CIC in G51.
The sessions focus on storytelling, crafts, and creative expression to boost confidence, communication, and wellbeing.
MINI PIES continues to expand through partnerships with schools and local venues across the GRID area.

TMSA Glasgow Branch
The Glasgow Shanty Festival celebrates Glasgow’s shipbuilding and sailing heritage through music, storytelling and workshops featuring local choirs, musicians and performers from across Britain.
The festival includes workshops, storytelling, children’s crafts, and music performances.
The festival emphasises education, with sea shanty workshops led by renowned tutors like Muldoon’s Picnic and storytelling by an experienced ex-mariner.
GRID is excited to award this project with £850.
On the Ball
On The Ball Academy offers full-day sports activities, outings, and healthy meals to children during school holidays.
Through their clothing recycling project, they provide quality pre-loved sportswear to those in need.
With grant funding, they plan to expand their October holiday programme by 30 free places, reaching 150 children across Glasgow.

Partick Film Festival
Partick Film Festival is a non-profit event held in unique venues across Glasgow’s West End, showcasing films from Scotland and beyond.
The festival includes special screenings, masterclasses and talks led by film and TV professionals.
With support from the GRID fund, the festival aims to increase the number of events, including workshops to provide greater access to the film industry.

Glasgow Boxing Academy
The club has relocated within 249 Govan Road, converting a former office into a fully renovated boxing gym.
The new facility will allow the club to continue serving the G51 area and wider Glasgow community, offering access to sport, fitness, and social connection.
Through boxing, participants will improve their health, build confidence, reduce isolation and develop teamwork and positive behaviours.

Community Veterans Support
Based in Glasgow, the Community Veterans Support group brings veterans together for friendship, peer support, and activities that improve wellbeing.
The organisation also assists the Govan community through nourishment, referrals, and learning opportunities, including Healthy Eating on a Budget, Food Hygiene Certification, and budgeting workshops.
The project helps build resilience, independence, and healthier lifestyles, addressing poverty and social isolation in one of Scotland’s most deprived areas and supporting people to cope with the ongoing cost of living crisis.
